JFCNP ACOS J9 PAYED A VISIT TO MNCG

Brigadier General Ellerman to the Mario Fiore Barracks in Motta di Livenza, civil-military cooperation specialists’ headquarters

Motta di Livenza, July 13th, 2021.
On 13th July, Brigadier General Marcus Ellerman, the J9 Assistant Chief of Staff (ACOS) of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, visited the Mario Fiore Barracks in Motta di Livenza, headquarters of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MCNG).
After the welcome greetings, the Commander of the MNCG, Col. Mattia Zuzzi, accompanied General Ellerman to the meeting room where, in the presence of the international staff, he presented a briefing on the multiple activities of the Unit in the NATO sphere and in international missions.
At the end of the briefing, the JFCNP ACOS J9 had the opportunity to visit the infrastructure and to attend training activities carried out by the CIMIC Battalion, as well as to meet the personnel specialized in civil-military cooperation.
The visit had the aim of intensifying relations between the MNCG and the JFCNP: the links between the two entities are, in fact, not only related to joint training activities but also to the NATO Response Force, that is the readily deployable package of forces by the Alliance to intervene quickly in crisis situations. The MNCG cyclically depends on JFCNP as a specialist asset for the CIMIC function.
To this end, the Multinational CIMIC Group includes in its staff not only personnel from all the Armed Forces but also of different nationalities. In fact, among the Participating Nations, in addition to Italy, there are Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia. This staff, during the international mandate, specializes in civil-military cooperation becoming a CIMIC operator. This qualification, recognized within the Atlantic Alliance, allows personnel to participate in exercises or operations under the aegis of the UN, NATO and EU.
The visit ended with the ritual signing on the roll of honor by Gen. Ellerman who, before leaving, wanted to congratulate and thank the men and women of the Multinational CIMIC Group, for the daily work carried out not only in the national context but also in the international one.
